This recipe for sweet potato with almond butter is very similar to the sweet potato with peanut recipe found on this site. In this variation we use almond butter instead of crushed peanuts. Try this recipe once, and it will soon become a regular item on your menu!


  • 1 medium-size sweet potato or garnet yam, baked
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons quality brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter


1) Peel and chop the baked sweet potato. Place sweet potato chunks in a food processor along with the orange juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and process until smooth.

2) Scrape the sweet potato mixture into a small saucepan and heat gently on the stove over medium heat until warmed through, stirring often. Remove from heat and stir in the almond butter until well mixed. Taste for seasonings adding flavor as desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Additional Tips

A delicious snack or side anytime of the day. I even eat leftover sweet potato and almond for breakfast the following day.
