Rice is a major food crop in much of Asia. Different regions of the area prefere different types of rice, and cook them in different ways. Japan tends to prefer short-grain rice whereas long grain is apparently more popular in China. Vieatnamese cook primarily with the extra-long grain rice and folks in Thailand tend to consume primarily jasmine rice. Rice is easy to prepare and works well with anything.



  • 2 cups dry short grain white rice
  • 2.5 cups  water


1. Rince rice in cold water until the water runs clear.

2. In a covered pot or saucepan, bring rice and water to a boil. Lower heat and simmer until all of the water has been absorbed (about 30 minutes).
3. Remove from heat and let rice steam for 10 minutes.

4. Enjoy!
