What to do with tofu? This is always a question when confronted with that plain white block of soy bean curd. There are lots of ways to prepare tofu. Here's an easy and , of course, tasty method to prepare baked tofu.

Ingredients

  • 1 PACK OF FIRM TOFU (about 1 lbs or .45KG)
  • 2 TABLESPOONS DARK SESAME OIL
  • 2 TABLESPOONS SOY SAUCE
  • 2 TABLESPOONS KETCHUP

Steps

Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. In a large mixing bowl stir together the sesame oil, soy sauce, and ketchup then add the tofu. Toss to coat. With a spatula, gently turn to coat thoroughly. In a 400C oven, bake uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring once or twice, until the tofu is browned, firm, and chewy. Serve hot, at room temperature, or chilled.

Additional Tips

Go to town with the sesame oil, soy and ketchup; add extra if you prefer a more flavorful roast. The deliciously baked tofu that this baked tofu recipe produces goes well with pretty much anything and keeps for at least a few days in the fridge. Try it next to mashed potatoes, in a sandwich or on noodles! Enjoy.
